How to Improve Amazon Product Listings: 10 Practical Tips

On Amazon, the listing is your shop window and your salesperson. Small improvements to titles, bullets and images can make a big difference to how often your products are found and bought. Here are ten practical tips.

1. Start with keyword research

Find the words buyers actually type. Look at Amazon’s search suggestions, competitor titles and your own advertising search-term reports, then group the most relevant terms.

2. Write clear, descriptive titles

Lead with the brand and what the product is, followed by the most important details such as size, quantity, material or compatibility. Follow Amazon’s title rules for your category, and avoid promotional words or keyword stuffing.

3. Make bullet points about benefits

Use the five bullet points to answer the questions buyers ask: what it does, who it is for, what is included, key specifications and care or warranty details. Start each bullet with the main benefit.

4. Use high-quality images

Follow the main image rules (usually a pure white background and the product filling most of the frame), then use the other images for lifestyle shots, size comparisons, close-ups and infographics.

5. Add A+ content if you are brand-registered

A+ content lets registered brands add rich images, comparison charts and brand stories below the listing, which can help shoppers decide.

6. Fill in backend search terms

Use the backend keyword field for relevant synonyms, alternative spellings and terms that did not fit naturally in the title or bullets. Do not repeat words or include competitor brand names.

7. Complete every attribute

Filters on Amazon rely on attributes like size, colour and material. Missing attributes can hide your product from filtered searches.

8. Organise variations properly

Group sizes and colours under one parent listing so reviews and sales history are combined, and shoppers can switch options easily.

9. Encourage genuine reviews

Use Amazon’s own tools, such as the “Request a Review” button, and never offer incentives for reviews, which Amazon prohibits.

10. Review performance monthly

Check sessions and conversion rates in your reports. Listings with plenty of views but few sales usually need better images, bullets or pricing; listings with few views need better keywords.
